Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Is it true that the saturated fats in coconut oil cause heart disease?

No. To understand the link between heart disease and saturated fats you must first understand that there are two very different types of saturated fats, long-chained fatty acids and medium-chained fatty acids. Long-chained fatty acids are those found in animal meats. These fats are very difficult for the body to break down and absorb and have greater chance of becoming stored as fat. They also can contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries, leading to atherosclerosis, and have a direct link to heart disease. On the other hand, medium-chain fatty acids are very easy to digest. These fats are converted directly into energy giving the body very little chance to store as fat. The saturated fats in coconut oil are comprised mostly of these medium-chained fatty acids.

  2. How did you come up with the name Stinkey Monkey?

It's a rather unique story. The inventor of our pudding had created this tasty treat for a very dear and special person in his life. Oddly enough Stinky Monkey was the 'pet' name he gave her, and figured no better name to call his pudding than that which inspired him. The reverse E was put in to add a little playful fun! 3. Are your products good for diabetics?

Yes. All of our puddings are sweetened using palm sugar. Palm sugar is a 100% organic, unprocessed, unfiltered, all-natural sugar with a glycemic index (GI) of 35; for comparison, most commercial honeys have a GI of 55 and cane sugar has a GI of 68. Thus palm sugar has benefits for weight control and the maintenance of glucose and lipid levels in people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. It is important, though, to check with your doctor or health care professional if you are someone who needs to pay attention to your insulin levels.

  4. Is Stinkey Monkey a raw dessert?

No. Although most of our ingredients are raw, our organic coconut milk is pasteurized. This means it is heated above 165 degrees to kill off bacteria, helping it stay fresher longer. In any case, many Raw Foodists who have tried our pudding have enjoyed it and feel that it fits into their lifestyle. We recommend that you try it and choose for yourself.

  5. Is your pudding Gluten Free?

Yes, all of our products are 100% gluten free! And soy free!

  6. My son has autism, could you please explain why Stinkey Monkey may be helpful to us?

Studies have shown that gluten from grains and casein from dairy can have adverse affect for autistic children. When ingested, the gluten and casein form opioids, a substance that can cause behavioral changes. Although not yet scientifically proven, by avoiding gluten and casein many families have observed overall improvements in the health and wellbeing of their children. Stinkey Monkey Pudding contains no gluten or casein! To learn more we recommend that you visit http://www.autism-nutrition.com/gfcf-diet.html.

  7. Are all of your ingredients organic?

No. All of our ingredients are certified organic except for our raw coconut meat. At the moment we are continuously researching new coconut farms and are hoping that in the near future we will be able to incorporate organic coconuts into our puddings.

  8. Does Stinkey Monkey contain cholesterol?

No. All of our puddings contain absolutely no cholesterol. The simple rule of cholesterol is that it is only produced in the bodies of animals; despite its name, Stinkey Monkey uses no animal products.

  9. Why does Stinkey Monkey cost more than most puddings?

We are very proud at Stinkey Monkey to say that we will only use the highest quality ingredients in our puddings. Most of our ingredients are certified organic and certified fair trade and we take pride in only sourcing the best raw materials.
